RoadRunners Lacrosse Dominate Mines In First Game Of The Season

The MSU Denver lacrosse team would start their 2017 season Saturday, as they would travel to Golden to take on the Colorado School of Mines, where the Roadrunners would use a huge second half to trample the Orediggers by a final score of 15-3. A couple of the Roadrunners who would have a dominant performances during the game, would be Anthony SanFilippo who would walk away with a 4 goal afternoon, and Josh Davis who would finish the game with 5 goals.

The first quarter would belong to the Colorado School of Mines as they  would finish the first quarter with the early 2-0 lead over the Roadrunners. Things would open up a little bit more in the 2nd quarter as the Roadrunners would score three quick goals coming from Anthony SanFilippo (2), and Josh Davis to give the Roadrunners the 3-2 lead before the end of the second quarter.

However, Mines would convert with one more goal that would tie up the game heading into halftime.

Following halftime, the game would completely belong to Metro State as the Roadrunners would score seven unanswered goals in the third quarter coming off of the sticks of Davis, SanFilippo, Mitch Larson, and TJ Florence to give the Roadrunners the comfortable 10-3 lead over the Colorado School of Mines.

The Roadrunners would continue with their momentum through the fourth quarter of the game, as they would finish with 5 unanswered goals, coming off the sticks of Marco Wiederaenders, Mitch Larson, Kyle Miller, Colton Webb, and Josh Davis.

Be sure to come out and support your Roadrunners lacrosse team, as they will play host in their home opener of the season against CU Denver on Tuesday, March 14th at 9pm. The game will take place at Dicks Sporting Good Park.
