Roadrunners Outlast Bobcats To Win RMLC Championship

After finishing the regular season with an overall record of 8-3, the MSU Denver lacrosse team would make it their mission to come into the RMLC playoffs and claim their first championship.

Mission. Accomplished.

The Roadrunners would first face off against their in-state rivals, the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers in the RMLC semi-finals. It would be battle in the middle of a snow storm, as Kittridge Park on the CU Boulder campus would be enveloped by a blanket of snow.

However, the weather would not affect the Roadrunners, as they would run over the Orediggers to make their way to the championship game with a final score of 19-3.

The Montana State Bobcats would pave their way to the championship game by defeating Fort Lewis by a final score of 12-6.

In the championship game, the Roadrunners would get things going early on, as they would get up to a quick 3-0 lead over the Bobcats after the first quarter. Hoever, the Bobcats would be able to claw their way back into the game, cutting the deficit to two goals, as they would notch a goal for themselves early in the second quarter.

In the second half, the Roadrunners would continue to not let off the gas pedal as they would get up to a 8-3 lead over the Bobcats at halftime.

The Bobcats would be able to gain some momentum of their own at the start of the third quarter, as they would be able to mount a comeback, making the game interesting with a 9-8 game with only six minutes remaining left in the game.

At the end of the fourth quarter, the Roadrunners would be able to tally on a few more goals to secure themselves the 12-9 victory over the Bobcats.

With the victory, the Roadrunners will make their first ever appearance in the nationals, which will take place in Orange County, California on May 8-13th. They will wait patiently to find out their seed and opponent, which will be announced tomorrow afternoon around 10 p.m. EDT. The Division II brackets will be unveiled on
