Top 5 Musical Performances of 2017

Top Five Performances

In 2017 The Nightly Met featured over 30 musical performances on the show and although we loved them all these five stood out to us as something special. They represent not simply what sounded the best but what moved us the most and to clap along.

Number five comes from the incomparable Anna High during The Nightly Met Christmas Special. She performed a handful of holiday tunes during the show but her version of “Man With A Bag” was something surreal. With a soulful voice and fun personality she created a sound that could rival even Kay Starr, the original singer, herself.

Coming in at number four is the band Edison and their song “Open Road.” After performing at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Edison came and delivered an acoustic version of the song in our studio and not only proved that they deserved to perform “on the rocks” but they need to do it again and soon.

Number Three comes from someone who is not only a great performer but is a great man. Robert Michael has been a local actor and director in the Colorado theater scene for quite some time and after being in a car accident a couple of years ago he created an album titled “Time Stood Still.” He performed “Fly to Me” with Norrell Moore earlier this year in our studio.

After having a two year love affair with these outlaws it would almost be sacrilege not to include Ryan Chrys and the Rough Cuts on a list like this. Be certain though they completely deserve this spot. During their fourth, yes it has been that many times, appearance on the show they performed “Country Music Soundtrack” and lets just say if they are not played on KYGO soon we are goin’ to have to kick up so me dirt.

Watch this and tell us that these girls don’t deserve the number one spot this year. At The Nightly Met Christmas Special the cast of “Annie” from BDT Stage performed “It’s a Hard Knock Life” and completely knocked it out of the park. These girls deserve a mic drop after that and you can still see them perform at BDT Stage through February 24.
